Hardwick & Co., a leader in classic American menswear, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support our financial operations. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Position Details:
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Hours: 30–40 per week
Work Location: On-site in Cleveland, TN
Schedule: Flexible, evenings/weekends off available
Training Provided
Key Responsibilities:
– General Bookkeeping & Financial Accuracy
- Record and maintain daily financial transactions
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and perform reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
– Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process invoices, payments, and collections
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding payments
– Payroll & Employee Records
- Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain payroll records
- Assist with tax filings, W-2/1099 preparation
- Ensure compliance with employment and tax regulations
– Bank Reconciliations & Cash Flow Management
- Perform regular bank account reconciliations
- Monitor cash flow, petty cash, reimbursements, and credit card usage
- Report on trends or discrepancies to management
– Inventory & Retail Accounting
- Track merchandise movement with inventory/retail teams
- Reconcile inventory data with financial records
- Support COGS tracking and margin analysis
– Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and submit tax-related reports (sales tax, 1099s, payroll taxes)
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
- Assist in audits and external reporting as needed
– Systems & Software
- Maintain financial records in QuickBooks, Excel, and POS systems
- Recommend process improvements and assist with system upgrades
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with retail accounting, inventory tracking, and POS systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial data
- Must be able to work on-site in Cleveland, TN
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience in bookkeeping for retail or apparel businesses
- Knowledge of federal/state tax regulations and compliance
