Cleveland City Manager Joe Fivas will speak for the June 15 “Food for Thought” on plans for the city of Cleveland.

The second-quarter “Food for Thought” membership luncheon will take place Thursday, June 15, at noon at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce.

Since he began his career with the city of Cleveland in August 2016, Joe Fivas has hit the ground running, first with a plan for what he hoped to accomplish in his first 100 days. As part of his work in the nine months he has been city manager, the city has conducted a community survey to determine concerns from all segments of the populations. His goal going forward is to have an open and non-bureaucratic government and to share information and ideas, keep the public informed, and work as a team.

Fivas has a Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, a master’s degree in Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree. His experiences include working for the Michigan Speaker of the House and serving as assistant director of State Affairs for the Michigan Municipal League.

He is a former member of the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) Municipal Finance and Tax Committee; a member of the Alliance for South Charlotte Communities; North Carolina City and County Manager Association (NCCCMA); International City Management Association (ICMA); and the Union West Rotary. He currently is a member of the Rotary Club of Cleveland.
Fivas and his wife, Julie, have two daughters.
