Event Description:

Do you have a will? Have you created a revocable living trust? Do you have a health care directive or a power of attorney for finances? According to a recent survey from Caring.com, only 42% of American adults currently have estate planning documents, such as a will or living trust. While end-of-life planning may seem morbid, an estate plan can protect you and your assets not just after you die, but during your life as well.

The Women’s Council quarterly programing for 2019 center’s around the theme of “Critical Conversations…” The third quarter luncheon, held on Monday, Aug 19, at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, will feature Attorney Laurie McNulty, with Logan, Thompson, PC, discussing the essentials of estate planning and discussing critical decisions with family members, sooner rather than later.

Laurie McNulty enjoys practicing law in a broad array of areas, she generally focuses her work on civil litigation as well as estate planning and probate. McNulty received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2006 and has worked closely with clients in East Tennessee ever since. Prior to joining Logan-Thompson, P.C., McNulty worked for one of Knoxville's largest firms, Woolf, McClane, Bright, Allen & Carpenter, PLLC.

McNulty is the daughter of the late David F. Harrod, a longtime attorney in Athens who was also a Circuit Court Judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit. In addition to her dedication to the legal profession, McNulty is devoted to community service through her work with organizations such as United Way of McMinn-Meigs Counties and the Athens-based Good Faith Clinic. She was recently presented the "Top 20 Under 40 Award," a Daily Post-Athenian sponsored award that acknowledges the best of young entrepreneurs in their profession and community.
