If Dr. Seuss were still living, his 113th birthday would surpass Cleveland State’s 50th birthday by quite a bit, but we are sure he would be proud to see that the Early Childhood Education Department honors him in such a special way. This an annual fun-filled literacy event to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday for children and families is sponsored by the Early Childhood Education college students as part of a service-learning project. Every child receives a goody bag, a hardback Dr. Seuss book and refreshments. Children can listen to Dr. Seuss stories being read and participate in numerous activities indoors and outside the library. Thing 1, Thing 2, the Grinch, and the Cat and the Hat just might show up to interact with the children, and the children can have their picture made with the special characters from Dr. Seuss books. This event is free and open to the public. However, all children must be accompanied by an adult. This program is sponsored by the Cleveland State Community College Early Childhood Department and the Kiwanis Club of Cleveland.
